WEEK 3 "A" BLOG
The 2009 Miss America winner was Katie Stamm from Seymour, Indiana. This marks the first time in the pageant's 88 year history that someone from Indiana has won. Is this a big deal for the state, or simply a nice story? (DUE 1/29)
I think that it necessarily isn't a big deal for the state, but it is an inspiration to some young Hoosier girls that are looking to make a difference. Stamm's victory shows young girls that they can still be beautiful and make a difference in their communities.
I think this is a very big deal for Indiana that Katie Stamm won Miss America. It gives more inspiration for the young hoosiers who desire to be like her someday. Usually California wins. California winning doesnt make young hoosiers want to be that someday because they can't relate to "Miss California," but to have someone from the same state as them, does inspire girls to be like her someday.
I think it is a big deal for Indiana. It is important for our state to have some pride in itself. this is something to be proud of also like what kelsey said it is something for younger girls to dream for. It gives inspiration and pride to all of us.
Kate Stamm winning Miss America is a big deal for our state, as well as our community. She represented us well and gave us Hoosier girls someone to look up to. We should take much pride in her win for Indiana.
I think Katie Stamm winning Miss America is just a nice story. Sure it increases the attention Indiana receives for a while, but it is not a big deal for the state. The achievements of one individual Hoosier, as great as they may be, will eventually fade from our recollection. Can anyone seriously remember the Miss America from 1989? or even 1999? Then what will be different about 2009.
I think its a great accomplishment for our state. It gives us a little more recognition. Although i do not necessarily thing that it is a big deal, I think it is just a fun thing for people to be involved in.
Stamm winning Miss America is not a big deal. It is just a story about a person from a boring state winning a beauty pageant. This event makes no difference in Indiana's economy or help fight crime. The only thing it does is show America we have a pretty girl.
I don't know if it is a big deal for the state, but it is a great story for her and her friends. It is a great honor to be named Miss America. It makes the state look like they create young people that know how to behave and are stand up people. I believe that she went to U of I, which says a lot about that shool.
I think that this is a big deal for the state. I think that any time you win something for the first time is a big deal. They will remmber this because she was the first one to win it from Indiana. They will talk about this the next time someone from Indiana wins the award.
With Katie Stamm from Seymour winning the Miss American pageant, I think it gives our state some recognition and gives Indiana something to be known for. I don’t consider it a big deal though; it’s just nice to hear someone from Indiana actually won something.
I think that Katie Stamm winning Miss America is a big deal for Indiana. We don't make the national news that often. Even though it's not as big of a story and Shrenker, it's still a cool story.
I thinks its great that an Indiana person won miss american, we hardly ever get publicity. However i dont think its a big deal because it will probably blow over in a couple of weeks. It is however, a big deal for seymour and UI.
I do not believe that this is a big deal for our state. I do however think that it does make a nice story because it has not occured in 88 years. I believe that their are more important things that are occuring that deserve our attention before we start to get caught up in beauty pagents.
I think that it is nice that she won for herself and family, but it really doesn't change anything for the rest of us. It will all be gone soon and she will probably be forgotten.
I believe this is a big deal for Indiana, not just a "nice story." With all of the chaos and negativity in our society today, it's an inspiration to know that our state is represented by such a well-rounded, commendable woman. When people go through such extremities to make their way in the world, it's rewarding to see the results shaped by our community.
I think its a big deal for the state because it's a great accomplishment. It's something we have a first in. It's good to see a beautiful, smart girl from our home town win this.
I think it's just a nice story. It is significant in the fact that she will inspire other girls to try to achieve great things. However, she didn't need to win Miss America in order to inspire others.
I believe it is just a nice story. Woo! Miss America was from Indiana. I can honestly say I didn't even know this pagent was going on. It's a nice story, but not a big deal to the state or anything.
I think this is a big deal to our state. I'm happy something positive happened in our state. It's a huge deal for Seymour and a really great accomplishment I'm proud Indiana will be known for.
i dont see it as a big deal for the state but it is very inspirering that someone can go from indiana and be a big star. i think that it inspired alot of young girls to push to the top and become a famis person.
