  1. I think that faking your own death should be illegial and the punishment should be faked incarceration

that being said i think the idea of one faking their own death to escape crime in the manner that Shrenker did is stupid and idiotically planned seeing as how he paid for his hotel room with his own credit card

  2. Yes, I think faking your death is a crime because people will think your dead so you have a greater chance to do other crimes under another identity. He should be punished with time in jail.

  3. I beleive that Marc Shrenker should be punished for faking his own death. I believe this because he planned to fake his death so far in advance. Many things were wrong with the plane, and authorities thought something was wrong. There were right, he is accused of stealing over a million dollars from insurance fraud, and was set to go before the state to answer questions. He ran to escape a crime he committed a crime and he should pay not only for the crime, but trying to run from it.

  4. The man took millions of dollars away from people that probably really needed it and on top of that he faked his own death because he didn't want to face the consequences. He shpuld be put in prison for a long time, if not life.

  5. Firstly, we never were talking about your feelings towards the situation with Shrenker... we were supposed to be talking about if faking your own death should be a crime.

In response the the REAL question, I do not believe that faking your own death should be a crime. But, I do believe that legal actions should insue for his other crimes.

  6. I think that faking your own death should be illegal because the government keeps close records and faking your own death messes with them. And if you want to live any kind of life, you have to use fake identification, which is already illegal.

Marc Shrenker should have to serve time in jail. Not only did he committ fraud, but by pretending his plane crashed, he also let it land in a residential area. The government sent out two military pilots to search for him, costing them money. He would have had less jail time if he had just let turned himself in.

  7. I beleive that what Shrenker did was a crime because he did this in order to try and escape his insurance fraud penalties. Shrenker should spend time in prison for his actions and he should have to face all of the charges he may have for insurance fraud.

  8. I think that faking your own death sholud be treated as resisting arrest because he is just doing it to avoid his other crime and resist arrest. So it should be just an extension to his crime of insurance fraud.

  9. I don't think that faking your death should be illegal. Sometimes people do these things because they need time away from the world. Today's world is extremely stressful.
I don't think Shrenker should get a punishment, but I think he should get some help. An idea would to send him to a mental hospital. He might have some problems in the head. You can't punish someone for that.

  10. In trying to fake your own death, especially when you're running from trouble, one's punishment should be prison for life. When someone tries to escape from trouble they caused themselves to get into, it should be punished.

  11. I think faking your death should be a crime because he is running away from a crime illegal. He stole millions of dollars from people and he was supposed to appear in court in a couple days.

  12. Yes, He took money from charitiies and invested which is like stealing so in my opinion he committed two crimes. Faking his death and stealing, from people that don't have much in this world.

  13. I think that Marc Shrenker should be punished. I also think that faking your own death should be illegal. Committing a crime and trying to run from it makes him look bad. Now he is going to have to face greater punishes for trying to run away from the crime he had committed in the first place.

  14. I believe faking your death should be a crime because his actions caused alot of damage and cost millions of dollars. He would have to live under a fake identity which is also a crime. Shrenker should have to spend time in jail for a long time for his actions.

  15. I believe faking your own death should not be a crime. In Shrenker's case I think he should be punished because he tried to get out of his previous crimes by faking his own death. The punishment for Shrenker should be that he has to repay the one million dollors that he stole.

  16. In my opinion, I believe Shrenker's idea to fake his death should be punishable under the law. He not only fled to another state with millions of dollars that belonged to other people, but was attempting to lead a life under a false identity. He should recieve a long jail sentence for his two committed crimes.

  17. Faking your death should be a crime because he is trying to get out of another crime he had commited. He should be put in jail and charged for both crimes he has commited. He is running away and trying to get away with the first crime he commited.

  18. Faking ones own death should be considered a crime especially when attemping to escape the charges of a crime. Any one who tries this should have atleast 10 years in jail in addition to the crime they are already accused of.

  19. I think faking your death should be considered a crime. If it was to be considered a crime, then Schrekner would be charged with two crimes, one inssuarance fraud and the other for faking his own death. I think he should get major time in jail and have to pay for the damages he caused.

  20. I think faking your own death should be illegal. By faking one's own death, a person puts the lives of police men and other people attempting to rescue him/her in danger. This reckless endangerment should be punished by a minimum of jail time.

  21. I think that faking your own death shuld be illegal because he gave himself a false idenity and could have harmed many people. He planned for the plane to crash in the ocean, but instead it crashed near a neighborhood. He should be locked up for quite awhile.

  22. Faking your own death should not be a crime. If someone doesnt want to be alive in the eyes of the united states that is their own problem. It could be considered resisting arrest if they are running from the law.

  23. The entire issue revolves around the definition here of the word "fake." Shrenker never really faked his death because there was no body at the crash scene. Faking your own death should not be illegal, however if you are doing it, you're probably guilty of something else.

  24. I think that faking your own death should be a crime. If faking your death was legal then people would be able to fake their death and be able to get away with insurance fraud or whatever they are trying to do. Mr. Schrenker should be put in jail for trying to fake his own death. They should make sure he is punished for insurance fraud and faking his own death.

  25. I believe that faking your death should be considered a crime. It should be punished as if it were idenity frued because people do it to collect money or get out of paying large amounts of money

  26. I think that faking your own death should be illegal and those who do should be punished with time in jail. Running from the law should never be overlooked or dealt with in a nonchalant manner. Whether one is trying to avoid or cover up a crime or simply doesn't want to face the realities of the world as himself, he should not be able to fake his own death because regardless he is tampering with the rules and laws of society.

  27. i think that he should just get in trouble for the froud not trying to fake his death because he is not dead and he will get in the same trouhle as if he didnt try to fake it. if he wouldnt have got caught right away and he would have got cought later he should be punished cause he was living for a while.
