WEEK 1 "B" BLOG
After decades of fighting between Israel and the Palestinians, in which something always seems to happen (bombing, terrorist attack, threat, etc.) to bring a peaceful stretch to an end, followed by prolonged fighting, followed by negotiations of a cease-fire, another chapter is being written. Israel has bombed and invaded Gaza following rocket attacks by Hamas. The United Nations is calling for a cease-fire and an end to Israeli occupation of Gaza. The question to answer is this: after decades of this same pattern repeating itself, should the U.N. and the international community be making this request again or should Israel simply be left to make the decision for themselves? Please explain why. (DUE 1/20)

I do think that the UN should step in, and yet again, try to solve the conflict between the Israeli's and the Palestinians. There are many innocent families involved that are losing their homes, familiy members, and freedoms because of this civil war. There are so many opportunities that could arise from peace in Israel, and the UN should help in any way possible.
ReplyDeleteI think we should stay out the civil way between Israel and the Palestinians. They need to learn how to do things on their own. The UN has it's own problems to worry about. For once, let another country make their own decision.
ReplyDeleteI think that Israel should be left to fend for themselves. There are too many people affect by this and have lost their family members and loved ones due to the bombings and terrist threats. The UN may solve some of the problems, but there will still be conflict.
ReplyDeleteI think the UN should get out of it now and have Isreal deal with its own problems. People rely on the biggest and most powerful countries to come and back them up. Let them get on with their problems and if rises to more countries being involved then we should step in at some point. Hopfully it wont get that far.
ReplyDeleteI think the UN should step in, because as an organization established to bring about cooperation between governments and maintain international peace, it is their responsibility to attempt to negotiate a cease-fire. Just because the UN has not seen its desired results in the past few decades does not mean it should stop its efforts.
ReplyDeleteI think that the UN should step in and try to resolve this issue because they do do have a great deal of power that they can use in order to help prevent or resolve these types of issues. If help is not given and an agreement is not reached, this war could escalade and cause further problems not only for these two countries but also for the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think the UN should interfere in Israel’s problems, if it hasn’t worked in the past, why would it work now. Israel should be left alone and see if they can resolve the things on their own. After awhile if the situation gets worse, then I think the UN should step in and help out.
ReplyDeleteI think that the UN should step in because we need to protect those who can not protect themselves. Their are many innocent people getting their lives put in danger for this civil war. Even if it has failed many times before they need to just keep trying because if we can get the peace between these two people peace in the middle east becomes possible
ReplyDeleteI believe that Israel is its own country and can make its own decisions. After being attacked many times they said enough. If they believe being in Gaza is the best course of action, more power to them. Look at it like this, what if the US was in there position. I think we all know what would happen, we would defend our country's innocent citizens and preserve life.
ReplyDeleteThe UN and the international community should be making this request again because human lives are at stake. Even though this cycle will continue to go on, it is better save the country and citizens before it is too badly destroyed than let them stand alone.
ReplyDeleteI think that the U.N. should be making this request. I think that if they don't try find a way to stop this that things could get worse. The long and more fighting means more people are going to be killed. They need to try to stop the death and destruction.
ReplyDeleteI think that Israel should be left to make there own decisions because they are their own country and the U.N. has made the requests before with no success so Israel should have full controle of what goes on in that area. The U.N.'s request are only words to these countries and this is a time where only violence will solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteI think that Israel should be left to defend themselves. I something doesn't work than why do they keep going back to it. It will just create another cycle of violence, a ceize-fire, and then it would start all over again.
ReplyDeleteI think Israel should be left alone to fend for themselves. The UN has made attempts in the past with no success. Israel is their own country and need to start making their own decisions. Hopefully it won't make the situation worse, but if it does, the UN should then step in and help.
ReplyDeleteI think that Israel should make the decision by themselves. It didn't work the other times the UN stepped in, so it probably won't happen now. The UN should try something different to help.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the UN should step in, and Israel should be able to decide for themselves. Simply repeating the same actions is getting the country nowhere, and it's time to make a change individually. If the UN hasn't been able to change anything all this time, what's to say that this time will be any different?
ReplyDeleteI think that the UN should not step in. Israel is not going to listen to them anyways. They should focus on the numerous other things that need their attention.
ReplyDeleteI think the countries officials should meet and come to a peaceful resolution. Other countries shouldn't have to fight another's battles. Istael should work to defend their country but not by killing so many people in the process.
ReplyDeleteI think that the UN should not step in. I think that Israel should learn to make decisions by themselves. If the UN steps in to help, then Israel is always going to rely on someone else to make the decisions for them and tell them what to do instead of letting them make their own decisions.
ReplyDeleteThe UN should not step in and request cease-fire. Israel should figure the solution out by themselves. It is not any others responsibility to stop their fightingg
ReplyDeleteI definetely think the UN should step in and create peace. Neither side will ever come to a peace treaty by themselves. The war wont come to an end without outside help.
ReplyDeleteI think that the UN should step up and help try to solve this civil war. It has been going on for much too long. If peaceful relations are not forced upon these two groups, it seems as though there never will be peace. In most cases it would be more beneficial for the two groups to realize that peace is necessary for themselves and not have to be told by an outside source, but too much is at stake for this fighting to go on any longer.
ReplyDeleteI think that they should give Israel a chance to fend through their problems on their own. It is a war between Israel and Pakistan after all, not the UN. In my opinion, only if Israel requests help should the UN intervene.
ReplyDeleteGuys, you do know how long this has been going on, correct? We're not talking about some small argument here, the Israelis have been occupying Gaza and the Occupied Territories for almost fifty years and you think that drawing some lines will help? Keep in mind that the USA is in the IDF's corner 100%. Israel must withdrawl now if we want to resolve this anytime soon, but THEY must initiate it, not the UN.
ReplyDeletei think they should step in because if they dont it will be threating internationl peace and if we were to just let them go they could cause major problems for us in the future. the best way to go about this is to step in and settle it so that no other nations get ideas
